The NATHANSON retractor is ideally suited for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and bariatric procedures, but can also be used in a variety of laparoscopic operations where atraumatic liver retraction is required. The holding and positioning arm can also be used in open surgery, as it provides improved visualisation of the operative field.

The retractor has a hexagonal proximal end that securely engages with the quick-connect hexagonal coupling. This direct attachment avoids the axial slippage typical of other holding systems.

A variety of individual configurations and retractor sets are available, suitable for all patients and procedures, including bariatric and paediatric cases.

The shape of the stainless steel device evenly distributes the weight load. The retractors are available in three sizes and can be steam-autoclave sterilised.

With additional accessories (e.g. a holder for optics and/or an endoscope or instruments), the Nathanson retractor extends its supportive functions during open surgery, even for larger or bariatric patients.
